ALIENS INVADE HAWAI‘I!

Introduced pigs and goats are devastating Maui’s rainforests.

These animals trample, eat and destroy native plants. They bring weeds, pests and diseases into the native forest.

Pigs will eat the seeds of both alien and native plants, and while rooting around for food, till the soil and spread both seed and fertilizer in their droppings.

Once established, alien plants often dominate disturbed areas in and adjacent to the forest, crowding out native plants and destroying native habitat systems.
