Endangered Forest Birds
Of the birds that survived the long journey to Hawai‘i, those species evolved in isolation.
Of the 140 bird species known to have once inhabited the Hawaiian Islands, 71 are now extinct, and over 30 of the remaining 70 or so are rare or endangered.
The Hawaiian rainforest birds are one of the best examples of adaptive radiation in world, exceeding even the Galapogos Islands.
