ICE completes 7-year Geospatial WaterBodySystem (GeoWBS)

   •

After seven years, the ICE team that programmed GeoWBS is celebrating mission accomplished. GeoWBS is a spatially driven enterprise GIS developed for the State Water Resources Control Board to catalog and assess waterbodies pursuant to the Clean Water Act.

Initial designs included involvement from US EPA Region IX, Research Triangle Institute, Indus Corporation, among others. The final implementation uses ArcView as a front-end to a distributed MS Access backend, in which beneficial uses, causes and sources of impairment, and remedial actions to waterbodies are all tracked using spatial objects.

The ICE team consisted of over 9 staff during the course of several contracts with SWRCB. They have all let out a collective "whoohoo" for their accomplishments.
